Takasei began in Fullerton and has evolved with time, place, and perspective. As we moved to Huntington Beach, we saw an opportunity to shape Takasei into something more personal and more true to who we are today. Rather than follow a familiar or stereotypical idea of what a Japanese restaurant should be, we wanted to create a space that brings Japanese tradition into conversation with the atmosphere of contemporary California.
What changed was not our respect for tradition, but the way we chose to express it. Through ingredients, tableware, mood, and presentation, Takasei has grown into a more thoughtful and comfortable experience — one that reflects both where we come from and where we are now.
For us, this evolution is not about leaving the past behind. It is about expressing our values more clearly: respect for craftsmanship, comfort, balance, and a modern sensibility shaped by Japan, America, and California.
We will continue to do our best to please our customers based on Japanese tradition.
